Global outboard sales.

Has anybody used these guys? https://globaloutboardsales.com/
Their prices and delivery seem too good to be true.

Re: Global outboard sales.

Did a walk through type "purchase" to put an item in my cart. It appears you do not have to put any money down, pay w/ cash upon delivery.

A Yamaha 8hp Enduro for $980 seems very cheap. (like you said too cheap; possible sketch!)

Re: Global outboard sales.

Looks like the company that owns the web site is Yanlun Marine Trade Company. The company is located in China. There area few online reviews, but these appear to be fake (super positive, very "American" names, poor grammar, etc.) There is no phone contact or address. The contact name "Joe Law" seems strangely comforting -- Joe is common American while Law feeds the impression of legitimacy and trust. While it's possible this is legit, personally I would not risk it as it has all the red flags of a scam.

Re: Global outboard sales.

Even though their website says copyright-2012, all of the web security certificates are up to date.

Re: Global outboard sales.

I went to the website in the original post and see they have pictures of some late model, uncrated engines, such as this:

Only 7pc sale price,2021 Yamaha Suzuki 350hp 30” shaft Outboard
$22,800.00 $14,000.00

I downloaded the image, and did a image search and found the exact same picture in an ad in Alibaba from a company named "NK Agro Trade and Logisitics".

Coupled with the name "Joe Law" and the fact that the actual contact number is sitting behind a 'WhatsAp" VPN.

All signs point to SCAM IMHO

Re: Global outboard sales.

If you get anything at all it will be a "Yamahaa" from China that's worth less than you paid for it. But more likely a box full of rocks or nothing . Worst case its labeled a Yamaha but is fake and Customs holds you criminally liable for importing counterfeit goods.

Re: Global outboard sales.

Update:
For whatever reason by partner wanted to try to order an OB from the site. Didn't seem like a risk since it said COD on the site.
Directly after she ordered the OB, we got a email confirmation of the order saying we should expect the OB in 18-24 days. (neither of us expected anything to be delivered)
After a week of no shipping/tracking info., she contacted "Joe Law" from GOS asking about the status of our shipment. He indicated he had no order and we must have ordered it from another site. We sent the confirmation email and they quickly responded w/Thanks, they do not accept COD.
Think "the deal" is dead in the water at this time, but who knows the saga may continue.

This is what I would expect from them - a fake-branded clone. The "COD" sites might be a way to generate leads to follow up on.

... and currently my browser is "unable to connect" to globaloutboardsales.com. Heh.

Re: Global outboard sales.

Just tried it and I could connect. Still allowed me to add an OB in my cart for COD.

So far, no issues of them contacting us other than asking them questions.

Ok, I couldn't go directly to https://... - got the "unable to connect. If I start with http://... it does some thinking, then goes to https:... and I get the secured site. But I have had some recent connection issues too...

The domain is apparently registered via Tucows in Canada. Hmmm.

Anyway, I would only buy a new outboard from an authorized dealer, in order to have warranty coverage, and I wouldn't buy a used outboard that I haven't seen and tried (or at least inspected) first.

Re: Global outboard sales.

I emailed Joe, asking about delivery times, routes, etc. Got a very nice prompt reply the the OB would arrive "72 after payment cleared". Then I pointed out that the website quoted "COD" and how would we do that. Haven't heard a word since.

Re: Global outboard sales.

To continue the saga, we have gotten more emails from "Joe Law" wanting us to order a OB, but not honoring their own COD terms on their site.

Bottom line, as everyone suspected it's a total scam site and do not order from them unless you have spare $$ to give to a stranger.

I usually steer clear when something is "too good to be true" or there's an unbelievably free offer "with no obligation to purchase "
