Fees for new boat purchase

I am looking into taking delivery for a boat in Europe. Wondering if anyone knows what extra cost I need to pay beside the price of the boat? I understand Insurance cost, but I am struggling with the charges for sea trial and commissioning ? It's like buying a car and have to pay for trial and commissioning the car. Thanks

Re: Fees for new boat purchase

Are you buying a new boat. Usually new boat dealers have a charge for commissioning- offloading from the trailer, rigging the boat, aligning the engine, etc. But that is all part of the price negotiation.

If it is used then there is little to commission. The buyer is expected to pay for any yard travelift services and any surveyor that he hires. And of course be sure that VAT has been paid. Big bucks if it hasn't.

Hi Dave, thanks. It's a new boat. I am taking delivery of the boat the the manufacturer's ship yard direct. Would that reduce the commissioning fee. ?
