You haven't filled in your profile very much so we don't know were you are. However, as a starter can I suggest you go on a practical sailing course for a week.

Think of the money spent as test to see if you like sailing before you even think of buying any form of boat.

Next, join a nearby saiing club and get some experience. They are all very friendly so just pop along and say hi, they always want new members.

Finally there is wealth of information on yachts on CF. Do spend some time reading back through the threads with your budget in mind.
