Canadian flag or change to British flag on buying boat

Am I better changing the Canadian flag on a boat I am thinking of buying to a British flag(red ensign), which is my flag of Birth & on present boat in Spain?

Also any information on a 67 foot Lang boat

Just buying and flying a different flag is not enough.. you have to change the registration at the same time..
From the little info you've provided.. a UK Part 1 registration may be
your best option.. more expensive but I believe, a one time payment.. at least it used to be..

If UK resident you could just use the SSR ( part 3 ) registration , simpler and easier

Thanks for information, my present boat is on the Part1 register for the last 15 years moored in Spain, since I bought her.
I have never bought a boat in Canada or the USA so being a little lazy I wondered if so one new the best way forward if I buy the boat in Canada.

David, assuming the boat is being purchased by a person and not a corporation, your choices will be firmly restricted by your RESIDENCE and CITIZENSHIP.


What you'd like to do really doesn't matter, until you know the choices that are open to you. And the consequences (tax, visa, insurance/liability, recourse, etc.) that come with that.
