Bringing an older UK boat to the US

Has anyone in the past 5 years bought an older UK build and or registered boat to the US?

I am tracking the EPA regulations, yet I’m trying to determine if the boats we’re looking at would be grandfathered in.

We are looking at a 2002 Oyster, with her original Perkins Saber, M255 engine, she’s been well cared for, but not overhauled.

We’re trying to find anyone who has gone through a similar exprience with a simlar aged boat to talk through the process; and any lessons learned.

And then of course- what happens if we want to overhaul her before we do a round-the-world voyage.
