Boat USCG Registration

Beware of outfits out there (at least in the U.S.) who will email or mail you a form warning that your boat registration is due for renewal. Before doing anything else, check your current registration document to see when it will lapse. I made the mistake of not doing so and renewed my registration online. After receiving the new registration document I noticed from my old one that it was still valid for another 2 months! I then contacted the company supplying the new document to have them change the dates but was told "so sorry Charlie" no can do. Result was I lost 2 months of the cost of my original registration. I was conned.

There's a site on line (here) that looks like USCG re-registration but is actually a firm that is willing to renew your registration, a $26 three minute task, for $75.
