Anyone Noticing Problems Ordering Products While Traveling?
Lately, I’ve had a lot of problems because places no longer want to have a separate billing and shipping address.
They take your money, never ship the order or give you an update, then you call them to see what’s going on and they tell you you are a fraud.
Meanwhile, the money is already taken from your account.
Ultimately, it takes them days to put the money back into your account and you never get the product.
Is anyone else (who actually travels) seeing an uptick in this problem?
It’s a real concern since we rely on credit/debit cards to order things while traveling.

Not a single one yet, my billing address is Texas and my shipping address is florida. A few require placing the order over the phone in place of online but still no real hassles.

No, never had that experience. We have SBI as our billing address so everything I buy online is shipped to a different place.

Well, I’m glad to hear that it is not widespread. I’m trying to order $1000 item. It’s not on Amazon. I have to use independent third-party sellers. And I keep having the same problem with them.

I have had a similar problem and found it was related to the address for my credit card. I do understand the need for the check but it is aggravating since I want the items delivered to my business for easy and certain courier connection.

Most places are ok with separate billing and shipping addresses, but occasionally it'll trip a place up and take a phone call to sort out. I agree with the Paypal suggestion. If the place takes Paypal, use it. Then all they know is "get money from Paypal, send item to X location" without worrying about card processing, billing address, etc. because Paypal takes care of that part.

Seconding Paypal as payment method, in some cases... with one supplier, the transaction was coded as a cash advance, Paypal just passed the code through to the charge card company, and the charge card company added a cash advance fee and started charging interest from day one... took nearly an hour on the phone to get those charges rolled back.
For a $1000 order from a small company, with any complexity like separate addresses, I would first get into an email exchange or a phone call with a real person, so that they first understand and agree to the complexity, then I would place the order.

As someone with no fixed address, I've occasionally run into this problem. PITA, but usually solvable with a phone call.

This is why I love this forum, my address list is 20 long on Amazon and I don't doubt it will raise red flags.I will brush up on my pay pal.

Re: Anyone Noticing Problems Ordering Products While Traveling?
The first time ever I've had a similar problem was last week. I ordered something online and it didn't have a separate shipping address from the billing address. After receiving the order confirmation email I replied and asked it be shipped to a different address that I included. They responded within 10 minutes and said they would make the change. The item arrived at the correct address 3 days later.
However! That said, I do believe your observations are likely accurate. The best I can say is be careful when ordering.

Letting your credit card company know the alternate shipping address goes a long way to solve this problem. But yeah, I've noticed an uptick in suppliers that won't ship to freight forwarders or third party addresses etc..

As a traveler, there is no shipping address to let them know about.
Ok, good data point on the uptick. I’m noticing it for sure
