Any experience with Global Yacht Cover insurance?

The policy is offered by Alwen Hough Johnson Limited and underwritten by Ergo in Germany. They are offering a decent price for the Indian Ocean but I can't find any claims history or comments.

Re: Any experience with Global Yacht Cover insurance?

Hi. Did you get any more info about Global Yacht Cover? I'm leaving Thailand for Africa in January. Currently with Pantaenius Australia but am unimpressed with their $20,000 deductible on wreck removal and total premium of 2.9% insured value. Cheers, Richard. sv Kereru Hardin 45

I decided against them. I did not find anyone who had made a claim. I did find one cruising friend who had them. Their price was decent. They double the deductible on lightning hits, which I really didn't like as a lightning hit and total loss are the two main incidents I want to insure against . Ended up with a Pantenius US policy at around the same percent as your quote.
We are planning on crossing this year too. If you want to stay insured it seems like the Indian Ocean is too expensive to stick around long.

I also didnt go that way although they were cheaper, for the same reasons Paul stated.
