Re: Suggestions for good sailing fiction

Hornblower novels are good if no one else has notes it. Start with midshipman hornblower.

Re: Suggestions for good sailing fiction

Most of these books are written by experts in their fields, so you can be sure that they will be useful for you. 1)The Long Way – Bernard Moitessier, 2)A World of My Own – Robin Knox-Johnston 3)Dove – Robin Lee Graham 4) Kon-Tiki: Across the Pacific in a Raft – Thor Heyerdahl. I hope that my recommendations will help you choose the most suitable books for sea voyages and achievements in this area. It would have been great if there had been some sort of Online Plagiarism Checker before, and all the old books would have been checked for anti-plagiarism, too. But unfortunately, many books of this genre are just paraphrases of each other, changing titles, and the level of plagiarism is enormous. It's a shame because there are thousands of interesting stories that have never been told!

Re: Suggestions for good sailing fiction

Good sailing fiction? Is there a plot worth reading? Characters that aren't superficial? A realistic voyage--in fact, so realistic it might even be true? Is it enjoyable to read (we're not talking Moby Dick here)?

Chicken of the Sea: Nothing is what it seems by Neil Barry

My advice; read the 50-page sample on Amazon and see what you think.

Just finished a long drive where I listened to "Rarotonga" via audiobook by Christian Williams. Very entertaining. The author is a lifelong sailor who has done several solo passages from S. Cal (where he lives) to Hawaii. He also has a youTube channel.

Try: islands in the sea of time. It has the USCG's Eagle in it.

In a few dramatic moments, Siren was shattered by the indifferent juggernaut. Struggling for his life, Peter Hardin felt the hand of his wife being torn from his grip as the huge white letters on the supertankers stern - Leviathan - steamed away. By the way, the authors at https://edubirdie.com/write-my-essay-for-me wrote a great book analysis for my university assignment. Thus begins an odyssey of revenge that embraces the distant waters of the world, from the titanic storms of the South Atlantic to the oil-slicked reaches of the Persian Gulf. Now back in print for the first time in twenty-five years, The Shipkiller is the story of one man determined to win at sea the justice he has been denied on land.
Wow! I so enjoyed this book. I finished it... picked it up and reread the last chapter... I read a lot, and have enjoyed many books, but this one stayed with me. The book is long out of print, but I was able to obtain a used hardbound copy in decent condition at Amazon.

Hornblower at the Atropos excites me to sail and puts me in awe about how good the British sailors were. Children of the Neon Bamboo would be another good sailing book, although sailing isn't the primary plot.
