New to the topic of podcasts and wondering what are some of your suggestions.


Any good sailing ones you folks go to?

I listen to “On the wind Sailing” and “The ocean cruiser’s podcast”. 59 North do the quarterdeck and sailing stories podcasts too, but I haven’t listened to those enough.

I agree. I haven’t found a podcast related to sailing that doesn’t though.

There’s also the History of Pirates podcast which is a bit of maritime history as well, but it’s what I’d pop on if I was on a long journey

It is good for a few episodes, but seems aimed towards people just getting into sailing who prefer things presented really slowly. Whole episodes can be summarized in a few bullet points.

My favorite is Matt Rutherford's Singlehanded Sailing. If you can find the older episodes, they have more sailing content. Current ones focus more on his non-profit and complaining about money raising/maintaining the boat. Still interesting to me, but maybe not others.

As someone who is preparing to liveaboard cruise, I liked the first season or two of Covert Castaway, but they lost me when they bought their second new $1M+ boat in 2 years. Good for them, I just couldn’t relate!

I also listen to The Liveaboard Sailing Podcast, it can be a bit hit or miss.

Bar Karate can be a fun listen, more Australia and racing focused, but funny dudes.

Plus they had me on as a “special guest” after the latest Sydney Hobart!
