Checklists

Now that we have a few miles under us, we have taken all the various checklists that we have come across through forums and Google searches and developed our own.

We had a few templates/drafts before we set off on our last trip from Malta to Hammamet, Tunisia and we modified them when we encountered something we hadn’t thought of or forgot to include.

We put them on our Links Page and they’re in Word format so easy to modify and make them your own.

•Pre-Departure
•Departure
•Enroute
•Arrival/Approach
•Post-Arrival
•Safety

Our plan is to print them 3 or 4 per page and laminate them so we can use them with our other cockpit cards on future trips.

We hope that they’ll help other folks get started, and please pass on any recommendations or glaring omissions…

Enjoy

Re: Checklists

As I pilot we have a lot of checklists. Normal procedures but also emergency procedures. Having a plan in an emergency is a good idea and not necessarily to pull out the checklist during the emergency. Some things are carried out automatically via memory that are time critical while others allow reference to the checklist. A few suggestions on what to establish emergency procedures for are:

1. Fire ( could break these down into electrical, engine or other)
2. Flooding
3. Abandon ship
4. Collision

I have made a few of these checklist. I'll try to dig them up if anyone wants them.

I found a free checklist app on the iPhone, which I use. But I agree, having it on paper is the better idea -- that way it's always there and everyone can refer to it.
