Best Boat Electrical Books ?

On the Blue Seas site, they have the folowing list of recommended books for boaters Recommended Books on Marine Electrical Systems - Resources - Blue Sea Systems

Does every one agree? What ones do you have & USE? What others would you recommend??

I have #'s 1 (My BIBLE) ,3 also by Calder & is good , 7 (not as good as #3) & 10 ( it is way too complicated for my rum soaked brain to understand - maybe with more reading and less rum, it will be of help )

A basic treatment for recreational sailboats and powerboats. A good book for maintenance and repair.

#4 The Fisherman′s Electrical Manual
John C. Payne

Great for learning about a boat′s electrical system.

is a good one to consider. By Miner Brotherton and Edwin Sherman.

I find that I only use Charlie Wing's book anymore. The only one to have if you only have one, in my opinion.

I personally don't drink the Calder / Casey Kool-Aide. John Payne is very good on wiring, grounding, lightning and galvanic/stray current corrosion. I think the "12-Volt Bible" is a standard textbook, as is Ample Power's "Living with 12-Volts".

As an electrician of 40 years, I find the books on 12 volts written for the novice, to be quite confusing. I admit I've only read Casey and the 12volt Bible.

This is my husband's favorite. The husband is an electrical engineer and super, super picky.

Calders book falls into this catagory for me - I find my eyes glazing over when reading it at times. For me Casey is much more readable and gets to the point much quicker.

I'll still pull Calders book out when I'm looking for answers, but I often feel like I'm back in college and getting ready to study from my chemistry book when doing so.
