Hey, I have to apologize for that. I know they're huge bucks for regular folks, but I know someone who swore by hers, so I knew where to look. Still, it was a bit silly of me.
I actually wear an ugly 20 yr. old Casio, and it isn't something I wear when we go out to dinner, it is really ugly. But it was waterproof. Can't get the O-rings for it any more, so it's about toast (the liquid crystal is going black).
Navicula, I hope you find something that pleases.
Ann

Check out fossil, most of their watches are waterproof and they have a large selection. Also, seiko and casio make nice watches that are sub $200..

Re: Womans Watch, Water Proof, Compass, Temp
i no longer wear a wrist watch.
i stopped wearing a wrist watch when i stopped working as intensive care and emergency room nursing... no sense in wearing a watch whenye dont give a sh** about the time.
sun tells me what time it is.
for watchkeeping duties i have a cheap battery operated wall clock i bought in a grocery store for the equivalent of 6 usdollars.
. is accurate until the battery dies, then it is accurate 2 times daily.
perfect for cruising

Re: Womans Watch, Water Proof, Compass, Temp
I've had a watch with a compass, and a watch with thermometer (though never one with both).
I found that the compass had to be recalibrated frequently to be useful, so you never really had confidence in it.
And the thermometer is always affected by the temperature of your skin, so it only really gives you an accurate reading if you take it off.
So . . . after several times getting excited about having a watch with these features, now I no longer care much about them. A simple quartz digital watch is plenty.

Casio Pro Trek. In pink.
When you say "women's", what is the important criteria here...size? Color? Style?
I think you'll be hard pressed to find a watch with those functions that is sized smaller and has some modicum of "style" that is not inherently masculine. I suppose that is why you're asking here. Maybe I'm lucky and a big pink watch fits the bill.

Re: Womans Watch, Water Proof, Compass, Temp
your right its about size.....she has small wrists....a big watch wont do it for her,and after reading these posts, they all make sense about you really dont need these functions..
Christmas is around the corner and I am desprate....but I have recieved great value in these posts
and the 12 to 4 watch comment..........priceless...lol, she does a great job in night crossings, however I usually do that shift and I love it

Re: Womans Watch, Water Proof, Compass, Temp
FYI, in my experience the best watch for cruising is a Timex Ironman. It's indestructible, is low profile and plastic so it does not scratch up your boat, has alarm functions that are great for keeping you on your watch schedule, as well as chrono functions (lap/split with beep) that are great for reminding you of regular periodic watch tasks like horizon scans. It also has an illumination function with an easy to press button that won't blind you. I wear it in lieu of my diver's watch because it's just the best suited watch I've found. Mine is about four years old, is still on it's first battery, and is maybe 15 seconds fast from when I set it when I bought it.
They are cheap, accurate, bullet proof, and come in a zillion designs, many of them targeted at women:
