simply don’t sell replacement parts for current

products.

And yes I do have a problem when I have to buy

a new 200.00 system when a 20.00 part fails.

We are not talking about a part buried deep

but an easily replaced part held in place by 2 screws
I found a number of sites that list the part (SPR00053).
Most list it as backorder, but it seems it is available here

https://www.firstchoicemarine.com/pr...shunt-spr00053

With so many listing it, it seems Victron does/did sell it as a part.
Is you experience that they now have changed their strategy?

Wonder why folks have come up with these.
They come up with these exactly because they mount them in places that were wet or with corrosive atmospheres! There is no reason to make those people who have clean dry, non-corrosive places to mount them pay for environmental protection they do not need.

You either mount it in an appropriate place or you protect it. Not sure what the issue is here. But if you want to feel wronged, by all means.

Yes. I only posted it three different times while the rant continued to rage on.

A simple matter of searching Google for Victron's part number took about three minutes to find one. I see others had successful results using the exact same approach.

I think a lot of posts are simply trolls, not necessarily antagonistic trolls, but trolls nevertheless just trying to elicit a response.

Check again. That’s the shunt without the pcb.

Re: Victron Disappointment

Why is it surprising that in a time of shortages throughout for all types of electronics doodads, that a company would choose to focus on products and not parts?

Re: Victron Disappointment

How embarrassing you are correct just the shunt.

I tried some more searches and the best I could find was this one.

Shunt and board used, though...

This looks like a very easy to repair board those components are huge.

If you get that one off eBay I would be happy to help repair the broken one as a spare..

Thanx Ben
Years ago I routinely repaired circuit boards.
Then all the big manufacturers went to
surface mounted components and it became
much harder. Just don’t have the right equipment
or eyesight anymore.
Not a fan of buying used components off of
ebay.

Re: Victron Disappointment

I was thinking between the roll of the dice of eBay and the overall repairability. We could easily end up with at least one working part

I will continue to see If I find any better alternatives.

Otherwise, I'm happy to help.

I think that Bluetooth is also making this part a lower priority.
Personal I would go hardwired anyway of the week, but you know kids with their wireless magic.

FWIW -
Time2Go suggested the problem was traced to corrosion in the phone style connector. Presumably this something like a RJ45 or RJ12 or similar. If so, a replacement connector should be easy to source and fitted to the PCB.

Maybe start with cleaning with baking soda and a toothbrush...

Maybe next time install it in a properly warranted way and you wont have this problem.
But you do you, then complain like a petulant child when you dont get your way.
WTF
As of now a warranty claim has not even been submitted
This is a cheap 25.00 part that took down an important
bit of kit. I thought I’d just buy it, support the manufacturer
and be done with it.
A bit dumbfounded that it can’t be bought.
As to failure mode, who knows, it’s all speculation
by my good buddy Bill, who has since disappeared once
I called him out of his rat hole.
And just what are your qualifications to say, sight unseen,
both my install and the unit in question
that it wasn’t installed within the warranty specs.
I will file a claim but that will take weeks and plenty of hassle
Not to mention the waste of time and effort by myself & the
Various folks at Victron who are going to have to deal with this.
Why not just sell the bloody part?
Do you even own a boat?
Stuff breaks all the time and parts need to be replaced.
You buy a new boat, great new engine
But then you make a bone head mistake and forget to
open the raw water intake. The water pump runs dry
and the impeller melts and destroys the pump housing.
You call the engine manufacturer who informs you
Sorry no replacement pumps available
You got to buy a new engine.
Extreme example but same ****
We are not talking about a legacy product here but one
currently for sale.
Plain and simple PARTS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE

Agree that parts should be available.
On the installation of my 5kw Multi and BMS 712 this is what I followed
