Velcro Ties

Has anyone used these type of cable ties? I'm tired of cutting nylon tywraps every time I want to add or eliminate a wire in my main loom.

Re: Velcro Ties

I use them extensively at work. That particular tie is for a cable you might coil and uncoil often, like an extension cable. It allows you to secure the tie on the cable so that when you unwind the cable you don't lose the tie.

For more of a replacing a zip-tie we buy Velcro wrap in 25' rolls.

I work in a television station. The tie you posted would go on audio and video cables videographers take out in the field, and we use velcro wraps instead of zip-ties in our equipment room.

Re: Velcro Ties

I just ordered another pack of 80 exactly like that. I've already used a hundred or so on our boat. I absolutely love them. Very secure attachment, and easily removed and reusable!

They're about $0.06 each at this quantity. Cheaper the more you buy, and they come in different lengths and widths as well.

Re: Velcro Ties

My boat is a 1979. There have been at least 2 other owners. I believe a lot of fingers have been in the pie. The main bundle hidden under the cockit in the engine room and has a 2" diameter bundle of wires. There are tyraps inside of tyraps. I have been cutting all the tyraps and pulling dead wires out and replacing them with tinned wire. I added another panel, so have a #6 going to that as well. So it's a dangling mess right now. These little guys should clean things up nicely.
I will try to find a few really beefy ones as well that has a fastening feature for a screw to suspend it up to keep it of the engine.
Maybe these...
