re: Velair Air-conditioning
Sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Yes I have one on my boat and I am a dealer/installer for them. I can assist with DIY install and validate your warranty remotely if you purchase through us.
This has been a real game changer in the marine A/C. Almost no startup load, energy efficient. I run my 16k off my inverter. On low mode it will draw 33 amps DC @ 12v off the inverter. To maintain temperature in can draw even less. I’ll be posting a description video shortly on our website. For now there are details on there and a video of someone running 2 x 16k units on a Honda 2200.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Wish I had contact with you before I bought this one.

re: Velair Air-conditioning
André, I would like to talk to you about the Velair products, I'm also looking for a new system to replace the existing ac on my boat, Velair looks promising.

They do seem like a great alternative to the much more expensive Marbru if you're looking for air conditioning at anchor. I'm interested in hearing anyone's experience long term.

re: Velair Air-conditioning
I'm not planing to use the AC at anchor much, but I'm a big fan of inverter AC, the reduce noise and cooling capacity when the desired temperature is reached is a lot more comfortable than a system that turns on and off.

Very satisfied with mine, having used it quite a bit in both heating and cooling modes. It’s generally much quieter than regular ACs, especially when near its target temperature. On some mornings it’s hard to tell it’s on, with a soft hum comparable to a fridge.
I posted a video on some thread here showing it running off solar + inverter under sail.

We love ours. Soft start and runs easily off the inverter. We have not used it that much but good to know that we can if we choose to on the pick when it is hot and still. No genset on board. Draws between 25-40amps 12v and cools the boat down quickly.

re: Velair Air-conditioning
I recently purchased the Velair 10k and installing is simple enough. I have plenty of water flow, however I get the "HP" code on the display instantly. The until does not even have time to start the pump. Any ideas on why, a bad pressure switch perhaps? I have yet to get the until to work.
Any help is appreciated as I have had no luck getting anyone from Uflex to get back with me.

Yes. My unit is 1 1/2 years old. In a new boat. I have been contacting Velair for several months when with our any reason they won't respond. Now on the fourth month still no response. So no parts I can't repair. Soon I will have to replace the unit with another new one from a different manufacturer.
Don't buy from this company.
They don't honor their warranty and you can't buy off the shelf parts

re: Velair Air-conditioning
I purchased a 9,000 BTU 24V unit from Alibaba.com for, wait for it, $620 plus shipping. It arrived in Europe within 10 days. I cannot be happier. I wanted a DC unit for the same reasons mentioned here... variable power, soft start, ability to run on the way from the alternators without having to start the genset. While connected to shore power it runs off the batteries through the 50A charger.
Installation was easy, and the remote control panel is super nice. I have a 16k, 220V unit in the main saloon that also works well but is a little noisy. I may replace it with 2x 9,000 BTU 24V units as well.
The choice between 24V and 110/220V these days comes down to how often you use AC on the water vs. at the dock. If you are in Florida, you have to go to high power AC units. If you are in more moderate climates and you use the units for both cooling and heating, DC units are beginning to make more sense. You can run them off solar or generator during the day, then switch off the generator and run them on batteries for a few hours during the night. Since they are variable speed units, they really consume very little at night.
Inverter based marine AC units should be very attractive but the cost 10x more.

would you be willing to share a link + what is the total landed price/cost?
and what does it draw wattage/amps wise? (and what in its lowest setting)?
potentially looking for a bedroom unit

re: Velair Air-conditioning
Looking for clarification. From my research/understanding the DC units do not use variable speed compressors like an inverter based AC. Is this correct?
