Starlink in the Pacific?

Everything I’ve read about Starlink portrays it as the cruisers holy grail, but I can only find reviews on the ICW and in the Bahamas. I know the coverage map shows that it isn’t available yet in the South Pacific, but the map doesn’t seem to be exactly accurate. Has anybody tried it in the South Pacific yet? Excluding New Zealand and Australia of course.

Also I’d be interested to hear some opinions on the best way to get consistent cell service and internet between the Marquesas and Fiji.

Re: Starlink in the Pacific?

A boat traveling between HI and Guam (enroute now) is reporting good results. They said the HP Flat has been performing better than the standard one, but both are operational.

Re: Starlink in the Pacific?

-pretty sure all satellites launched since 4Q 2021 have that optical laser links to improve those mid pacific (ocean) relay holes.. but i personally would not expect to have coverage that far from a relay (unless.. you get lucky with the laser sats)

might be worth sending a private message to "starlink tahiti"

...unsure if they are a real thing or just some fanboy operating in his shed.. (which..wouldnt be mutually exclusive..or a negative)

they seem to have only existed on the internets for only a couple weeks..
i remember seeing speedtests posted by them from french polynesia (which caught my attention....but i cant seem to find it now)

-fwiw, starlink is documented to now be operational on "..two of the world's most remote islands..."

Ahh, but will Elon allow one to use it as one wishes or will he enforce his own restrictions on its use, as has been done in Ukraine????

well. i don't watch the 'news' and generally dont seek out drama (so i have no clue what you are referring to)

however this is starlink's marine converge map...

i can tell you with 1st hand experience that a starlink's RV worked well in southern colombia (which should be at similar lat as a south pacific route)
