We painted the bottom of our 46 foot sailboat while
on the hard in
San Carlos,
Mexico in November of 2010. We pulled the
boat out in April of 2012 and found very few areas of growth on the bottom. The only reason we repainted the bottom was that we didn't have any of the
paint to touch up along the
water line. It's the only place we had any growth since the
paint wore off there during the infrequent cleanings we did. It lasted us clear to
Fiji. One of the contractors in the yard looked at the bottom when we pulled it and said it really didn't need to be painted and that is after 18 months and 7,500 miles across the Pacific.
If I could get it out here, I'd do it in a heart beat.
