I installed an 11 pound bottle and hose(ace hardware adapter hose) this week.
Used it yesterday worst it has ever worked, light wind and it kept going out. Has blue regulator.
Any words of wisdom?
Thanks

Either you have an older model that doesn't have these updates, or your expectations of a boat grill are too high.
Interesting to know!

So you are able to actually change the flame level? Based on all the other comments here and elsewhere it sounds like the issue is the actual gas regulator not the grills themselves.

Are you able to get low flames through very high flames?

For those with the Dickinson grills - are you able to actually adjust the flame level?

Having consistent heat that can be adjusted is important.

On the Dickinson the low/med/high marks on the regulator do what they say.
Mine was set too high when I bought it but Dickinson have instructions on how to set it up properly.

I had the old Force 10 barrel style for 22 years and loved the aluminium flavour plates for the way they really smoked steaks up but it was useless in a breeze.

It would be nice if Dickinson could come up with something similar.

I fixed the high wind problem using aluminum tape over many of the holes and also the 6 pound adapter.

as of now i have an older Magma kettle and I have the following issues- many of which are shared by everyone who has this same grill:
1. It only cooks at 11 at all times
2. Brutal hot spots (I have cleaned it and replaced some of the inner workings)
3. I have an older model that doesn't hold the lid when its open
4. The hot lid has also led to many burns

Although there are endless posts praising the Weber grills I simply cannot get on board with putting something that bulky on the back of my 35' Beneteau. It does get a lot of use so I intend to mount to a rail off the back of the boat.

What I am interested in would be:
1. The actual ability to adjust the flame level
2. Consistent heat across
3. Uses the small propane bottles
4. Can mount to a rail

I am open to infrared - anyone been using one and have any clear pros and cons?

Kuuma seems to have some negative comments about build quality. Seen a couple positive mentions of Dickinson but no extensive reviews.

So I am looking for feedback if you have some ideas that fit what I am looking for.

Also, has anyone done a thorough brand review in the last year or two?

Thanks!
we also have an older Magma Kettle barbecue that came with our boat. It was absolutely hopeless to cook with and cooked way to hot. On one of our trips I run into a gas fitter in a marina and asked him if I can replace the main jet with a half size jet and he gave me two to play with. I fitted the quarter size whatever that was and now if makes the best pork belly ever.
Hope that helps some Magma haters lol
Cheers
