Orca Green Marine (OGM) - Does not respond!!

Warning about Orca Green Marine (OGM) --- We purchased all new OGM LX2 nav lights directly from OGM and installed in February this year. The starboard one was leaking internally by May. OGM has a "lifetime warranty", but they refuse to answer phone calls, emails, or online requests. Left dozens of messages. Finally paid $171 out of my own pocket to order a replacement through Defender.com AND made a BBB complaint against OGM today. Encourage others who may be having problems with OGM to contact BBB and file complaints as well. Sorry it has come to this as overall I liked their products and have significant investment of OGM products on our boat. Hopefully whatever is their problem, they figure it out, but completely ignoring multiple customer requests if totally unacceptable.

We recently went by to find their office in Annapolis and it was not at the address they have listed. There was just an empty office.

Re: Orca Green Marine (OGM) - Does not respond!!

OGM absolutely sucks. My boat had an OGM tricolor light that I assumed (correctly) was causing RF interference with my mast head antennas for AIS and VHF. I spoke to the woman (owner?) on the phone a handfull of times and she was quite helpful and promised to troubleshoot with me. As soon as it became obvious that there was an issue with the light she stopped answering my calls. I called repeatedly, even from different numbers, and got no response. I got to a point where even after a few months I'd call just to see if I'd finally get her to answer ... nothing. I figured that something must have happened to her or the company, but looks like it's still going on.

Stay the hell away from this company, if it even exists anymore.

Re: Orca Green Marine (OGM) - Does not respond!!

The owner is:
Meghan Matthews
Orca Green Marine (OGM)
7040 Bembe Beach Road, Ste 1
Annapolis, MD 21403
443-699-6348 phone
443-930-2365 direct/mobile
mmatthews@orcagreenmarine.com
www.OrcaGreenMarine.com

I had the same issue - once I put in the issue, she no longer responded to me. In the past she always responded. Interesting to hear that they are no longer at the address listed, but the phone line is still connected and she obviously is getting voicemails because I've left at least a dozen messages before contacting BBB and credit card company and her voicemail is NOT full.

Very sad to provide such terrible service - if there's a problem, she just should have responded and let people know. Most boaters are a pretty understanding group, but when you just go dark, it's pretty crappy.

If I wasn't stuck with OGMs all the way around, I would not have paid another $170 for a replacement.

All I can do now is warn others...

Polaris - I hope she is ok too. I thought of that after a few weeks of trying and even left a message and sent an email to that effect - that if their was an illness or a business problem, just let me know. I'd be willing to wait for a resolution, but zero response.

Yeah I don’t think it’s illness. My above described incident happened in January.

Maybe it is a chronic illness
I have a faulty OGM tricolour/anchorlight, maybe I should look for alternatives. Suggestions are welcome.

Re: Orca Green Marine (OGM) - Does not respond!!

Turns out one of our Manta 40 friends recently had Luna Sea Lighting installed. Previously he had OGMs, but the rigger recommended moving away from OGM. Guess we know why now.

Re: Orca Green Marine (OGM) - Does not respond!!

Thank you Jason for the link.
I just have replaced all my other nav lights with Hella, so a Hella light on top of the mast would be sort of logical, like this one?
2 NM NaviLED TRIO Tri Colour Navigation Lamp - Navigation Lamps, Tri-Colour - Hella Marine
Anyone know of EMI/radio interference of this unit?

I have this unit and it's great. See the mast top. It's the LunaSea model cited: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n4CaP6vt3...0/DSCN2532.JPG

I replaced my OGM tricolor with a Lunasea unit alluded to above earlier this summer. It's super bright and does not impact AIS or VHF performance.

If you replaced a defective OGM with a new OGM you just rewarded bad behavior on their part. If they will not back their product why buy from them again?

Re: Orca Green Marine (OGM) - Does not respond!!

We got a hold of her about 2 months ago concerning our inoperative tri color. She told us to send it to her right away and promised a quick turnaround. After about a month we finally were able to contact her again. She told us she would diagnose the tricolor over the weekend and contact us at the beginning of the next week. That was 3 weeks ago and we have heard nothing and she doesn’t return our calls. I guess we should feel blessed we were able to talk to her twice in 2 months! Stay away from this company.
