marine spot lights

I have purchased 2 spot lights from West Marine and they have done fair but only lasted 2-3 years.
I am looking for a replacement.
I just want a hand held spot to find markers in the night at the greatest distance possible.
I have even considered just getting an automobile lamp and wiring it to my 12 volt system.
Anybody got any great suggestions or recommendations?

When replacing all our lights to LED lights we found military grade LED spot lights that we put on our spreaders at trucker's supply shop that are very bright and shine close to a mile. Don't have the name and they were not cheap but are very pleased with. when i get back to the boat will try to get a name brand for you or google LED spot lights...
