HELM SEAT

One of the things I love about my boat is the walk-in cockpit.

But what has always been missing is a good helm seat for extended periods hand steering.

Anticipating next year in Alaska/ BC, dodging logs I want to install a pedestal bolt down seat behind the wheel for a focussed lookout.

Seeking product advice from those who have seen and felt the quality of different Makers, since I won't get the chance to try them here in the Philippines

The cockpit now has a permanent solid fiberglass and solar Bimini cover so seat will always be shaded.

I've narrowed it down to 2 types:

1.... Molded Type like the shown white Todd "Point Loma" which facilitates side entry and removeable cushions.

2..... Fold-up Type, like the other 2 that provide a standing backrest option if things get lively.

The grey/blue one looks like you can wedge yourself in and the flip up bolster might give good lumbar support.

Any advice on design and product suitable for my cockpit is greatly appreciated.

Re: HELM SEAT

Personally, I find that standing is less tough on my back. If I had to choose one or the other for a long period of time, I would choose standing.
