I have several of them, different brand (looks identical, probably same factory). Couldn't live without them. Have given them as gifts to several people, all of them are dependent on it now.

When fully charged, they got a bit hot, but then, you have the power of the sun on your forehead, what do you expect?

I am very partial to the hurlkins orbit headlamp, similar to the one you mentioned. It’s 3x the price, but the light diffusers built in do wonders for the normal shadowing you get from these types of headlamps.

I show people the difference in a dark engine compartment all the time.

No they are not great for the marine environment, and the connectors will corrode. I get about 3-4 years out of one. Still worth it.

When I give someone a hand on a project, I bring my own headlamp, and they almost always order one that night.

Thanks for the input. I have been using the cheepo ones from Home Depot etc. and they were total crap. Burn through batteries and not nearly enough light.

I will spring for a few of these.

Yes they are more expensive but the quality is amazing as is the beam. I have a couple of different types now. Showed them to a buddy and he bought them as well and is now passing them out to his kids .

I have one of these, yes I know it’s pricey, but it is the best headlamp I’ve ever owned…worth every penny. Buying and replacing inferior products, repeatedly, gets tiresome, and ultimately more expensive than the Mantus headlamp.

I have two of them. Sometimes during a boat project, I wear one all day long, just tapping it on when I go into the dark and hopefully remembering to turn it off when I come back out. They're so light-weight that I forget I'm wearing them. Last week I drove to the hardware store with one turned on and didn't notice until I got back. Nobody said anything to me...

I was just thinking about this earlier today - I've got an expensive Ledlenser headlamp with a separate battery pack that is heavy to wear and takes up a lot of room in my day pack. I haven't used it once since I got those lightweight little ones. Although I suspect that the expensive light lasts a lot longer on a charge and it does throw out a spotlight fifty yards out. Used to go on two-hour dogwalks with it every night. But it might get voted out of the backpack.
