Harken Flatwinder - how unknown?

Just closed on a new boat w/Harken Flatwinders on both the traveler and dinghy hoist/davits. I wanted traditional electric winches but couldn't get them switched out before the close. I'm worried about not having a mechanical back-up option on two critical systems. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks.
