Can anyone recommend a good "PC Cleaner" program?

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
Gord,
I like Auslogics BoostSpeed. It's a kind of "all-in-one" program which is very well written, intuitive, and does a number of things, including:
-repairs registry
-checks for unwanted files
-checks for disk error
-checks for defragmenting
-cleans up temp files
-advises on configuration
etc., etc., etc.
Top Rated, and the $49 cost includes license for use on 3 computers.
Very slick, and seems to work quite well.

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
Gord, we use a combination of CCleaner and Iobit's System Care. They seem to do a very good job and CCleaner is free as well as a free version of Iobit. I did buy the Iobit Pro version. The nice part is that so far neither has screwed up my computer. Chuck

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
I have used Crap Cleaner for years,,,it is by far the best,, even the free version.
But you must also be aware of your settings throughout your pc as well,,,the software is only as good as the person using it.

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
Gord,
Can you tell us what OS and platform you're looking to clean up? And why you're asking about it?

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
I use AVG Free on all my computers. It's a very good antivirus. However, if you or one of your loved ones has infected your PC with that trojan that constantly pops up windows saying that your PC is infected and trying to get you to buy a certain antivirus program, the only thing that I've found will actually kill it is Malware Bytes.

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
I’m running Windows Vista, and my computer seems to be “slowing down” again, after a professional cleaning about a year ago.
Please keep in mind that I'm a computer illiterate.

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
Gord. Does the computer operate "alright" for a while and then drastically slow down at some point or does it just seem slow overall even after you reboot it?

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
Also,,a bit of good advice,,switch your operating system to either
Windows 7 or Windows XP as either of these two are far and away better platforms.

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
have had a simmilar problems with vista recently .
i found it was caused by background services running on startup from a photo viewer that i installed.
have repeatedly tried to uninstall the program, but it keeps poping up and reinstalling itself.
beware arcsoft software, this was not something i downloaded from the internet.
check your installed programs and your start up menu.

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
Go into your Registry and delete the parent entry of the software.
Crap cleaner will also help in this since it has a built in registry cleaner.
This is why your software keeps showing up,,because its still in the registry and probably on your hard drive under the main programs folder.

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
When my PC acts slow I open task manager and look at all the running tasks to see who is using all the resources. You can google that task to see if it is a virus or maybe adjust some settings. CTRL+ALT+DEL

Re: Good PC Cleaner ?
Just Ran: CCleaner, McAffee Security Scan Plus, & Shaw Secure (F-Secure); and perhaps I’m loading faster than I was.
Thanks all, for your generous & informative help.
