Flexiroam instead of local SIMs?

My wife pointed out this service (Flexiroam X | Earn up to 100GB of int'l roaming data) that sounds a little too good to be true.

Has anyone tried this out? Is it legit?

US$30 for 1 GB of cellular data sounds quite expensive!
However, seamless switching is attractive - taking into account the hassle every time to get a new sim in another country.
