Cozy Cabin Force 10

Hello I just recently purchased a sailboat with a Force 10 Model 1000 propane cabin heater. It's an older model without an ignitor or a pilot position on the knob. Is anyone familiar with this unit. I'm nervous to try and light it without knowing how. Do I just push the knob in and light it with a match. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Would contact Dickinson Marine to see if they have the manual for your older model.

Looks like Dickenson and Force 10 are different manufacturers. I’m not sure exactly what you have, but I have a Force 10 Cozy Cabin Heater manual (no model number on it), which I am happy to scan and send you, if you PM with an e-mail address to send it to.

Actually, I’m thinking of removing mine, it seems like a burn risk (especially as I have a young ‘un aboard) and I’ll be out of the water before the weather gets that cold.

Force10 is based in BC and can probably help you. The cosy cabin heater is not a particularly safe unit in my view with the flame and combustion open to the cabin.
