Its really kind of weird because the light so far at least only seems to attract the little mayflies. Not moths or mosquitos or anything that actually bites. Will continue to try it while cruising on the chesapeake as I have only used it two time so far and both were in very still conditions.

I found a coconut in the Bahamas (that was the easy part). When I got home, I sanded the outside smooth and cut off the bottom third of it. After varnishing the outside, I cut a hole in the top and epoxied a light fixture from West Marine on the inside of the coconut. I then wired it to a cigarette lighter plug. It took a little work and cost about $25. Whenever I use this custom coconut cockpit light, it brings back great memories.

I use the either the Blue or White 48 LED bulb strips mounted inside my spray hood depending on the lighting I want and that works well for me. Not only that but I got both strips for about £5.00 including mailing from Hong Kong. You can see them on EBay, Item number: 260798388669. James

Whatever happened to tradition?

I have an oil lamp inside for the galley table. And I like the idea of using one in the cockpit for outside dinners. Or just sitting and enjoying the beautiful nights. Was considering an outside light recently myself. I know what I'm doing. Good Luck

Cockpit Light Suggestions?

My wife found this last season. It's also available in 'warm' led. Packs flat, no batts.

Re: Cockpit Light Suggestions?

Check out the inflatable Luci led Solar light. These lights are inflatable for easy storage, cost efficient and very bright. You also feel good if donating to a good cause.

Cheers Sue
