Chesapeake Bay Boatyards and interior refits

Hi everyone, was glad to read a recent post on MAryland Boatyards and electrnics, very eye opening and explained alot from an arms length basis....My wife and i are begining an interior refit after doing extensive hull and systems work that has left our interior a real mess....usable BUT a mess....Can anyone speak to any yards on the Bay that have good work ethics and competent interior carpenters? The scope and scale would mean almost a bare hull build out to make things comfortably liveable.....finish doesnt need to be Abeking and Rasmussen like.....more old time working ship like with painted wood and a bit of nice trim.....wanted to keep the work on the Chesapeake if possible to be able to ride shotgun on the process.....So Maryland Or Virginia is fine with us....thanks for any insights and perhaps even better any places to RUN away from! Haha!

Re: Chesapeake Bay Boatyards and interior refits

I've never used Tiffany Yachts in Burgess, VA for interior work, but they have a great reputation and have been doing it for several generations. They are able to do everything from CNC router work for trim, really high end yacht work, down to bare bones painted interiors with minimal oiled wood. Every time I'm on the Wicomico River I see at least one of the boats they've built over the past decades.

I've used them for electronic and hull work. They are not cheap and they are not fast - so there's no bargain to be found. But I like that they say what they'll do and they do what they say. Plus, when you call and ask to talk to the owner the guy that answered the phone is likely to say "speaking...".

There is only one boat yard that I trust. That is Flag Harbor Marine in St. Leonard. MD. Talk to John Little and he will advise you. There is good guy named Rob Dale. Rob is a fantastic craftsman.

Bchlor pt. oxford another.
Cutts and Case as well in Oxford-
avoid hinkly-

avoid the northern bay- tend to be more costly and les quality

Tiffanys in Burgess does outstanding work. As previous poster said, they're not cheap, but they will do a great job and can do exactly what you ask of them. They build high end boats from scratch and know what they're doing. Talk to Taylor...
