Can any one identify a source for this tool?
This came with our boat--used for holding engine pulleys when tightening a belt. It worked fine for that purpose but we used it trying to push out a bolt from our anchor roller and it broke. There is no manufacturer identification, Google Lens couldn't help nor just Googling belt tensioner and similar terms. It's about 4" long and extends to 8". We'd like to replace but may try welding if another can't be found.
Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

Re: Forgot the photo
Looks like a belt tensioner to meet/hold spec tension before you clamp the bracket down tight.
But I'm often wrong.

I have a couple of small ones, of a similar design. I used to use on 350 manifolds, they would sometimes shrink just a bit when you removed them.
Any welder or compent DIY welder should be able to whip one up.

Auto parts stores are a decent source, too.

Seems like more effort than just using a screwdriver or pry bar, regardless it's a good way to apply the correct tension if used with a V-Belt Tension Gauge which is more important than how you apply the tension.

Except you can keep a steady pressure particularly if you have to tighten a bolt and nut

Absolutely which is why I agreed it was a good way to hold and or adjust the belt tension. I have never actually seen the tool before but I'm pretty sure I could have the belt tensioned and job done before you you could even find the tool in your kit, but then again I've never come across an alternator with a lock nut either.
Belt tension is critical so a good tension gauge is more important in my opinion especially for the inexperienced but it a great tool never the less.

We have one just like it. The original welds broke upon easy use, but we just had it re-welded about 3 years ago and it has worked fine since
