Caframo Bora fan - huh??

Anyone know what the ‘choke’ looking device on the power wiring is for? I’m doing some wiring and it’d be nice if I could cut the wires on the fan side, rather than Dremel a hole to fit it. Tried to call Caframo but they’re closed and I thought someone on the forum might know.

Thanks.

If you are talking about the nut sized plastic thing where the wire loops around, then that is for preventing RF interference from the electric motor through the wires acting as an antenna.

That was my assumption (it’s the first fan I’ve seen with something like this). I wonder, however, on its value on a fan being mounted in the v-berth of a 40’ boat.
