Brion Toss, Complete Rigger's Apprentice, new edition?
Hi all,
Somewhere I recently stumbled on what looked like a reference to a new version of the Rigger's Apprentice coming out soon, covering, among other things, synthetic standing rigging.
Now I cannot find that reference and I am wondering if I got it wrong.
Can anyone tell me if there is a new version due out soon, and if so where to order it? I cannot find a reference to it on his site.
Matt

“The Complete Rigger’s Apprentice”, by Brion Toss, was (first) Published in 1997. I am unable to find an "updated/revised" version, nor does Brion list one.

How intimidating will this be to a beginner who's never spliced anything?!

Not much. Splicing, particularly splicing modern lines is about as simple a process as there is. It is also an incredibly useful skill and when you realize how much you pay for a rigger to do the work relative to the difficulty you will kick yourself for ever having paid someone to do it for you.
Splicing wire in my opinion should be left to professionals. Just the tools required to do a good job are expensive.
Splicing three strand... Technically easy, practically I can't do it. I loose my place and have to restart all the time.
Some of the other things you may never do (rigging calculations), but it's a good background of knowledge to understand.

Ah ha! That's the one. Thank you for spotting that. Your Amazon searching skills are the stuff of legend. :^).
Strange that Brion does not yet list it on his own site. But very happy with that release date, just about the right time for my birthday.
