Don't use ink, once you buy it you're done. Just need a special type of paper (which is pretty cheap as well).

Regards,
Simon
I was looking at these a while back. I want a printer that I can use directly from a iPhone or iPad. I seem to recall with the PJ-6xx you could have a bluetooth version that supported the iPad but nothing else, or something like that. Anyway I did not like the price or the thermal paper so it dropped off my shopping list.

Has anyone with the iP100 also got the optional bluetooth adapter? Does it work with iPhones?

I don't have it. I would love to see a new version that supports AirPrint!

When you connect it to a Mac, you have software that allows printing from other Macs and iOS using AirPrint. Not optimal, but it works.

Kind of defeats the purpose of printing from an iDevice....

I want the option to print from my iPad just for occasions when I have no computer onboard which is usually on weekend visits and I want to print my return boarding pass.

I thought that the airport express could give me that option, but wonderful Apple seems to only support Macs & PCs for this

Yes, it's taking them a stupid long time to integrate AirPrint into their complete product line.

We have a fixed MacMini aboard which is why it works for us; it's there for navigation and entertainment systems, but for things like these it's a band-aid solution

Re: Best inkjet printer for the boat

I just installed "Printer Pro lite" on my iPhone and was able to print on my home network. So I upgraded to the full version and that seems to work ok although to print from the web you have to copy the link into the app.

I was thinking I could get a wifi printer USB connector or even the airport express and us this app, but it now just occurred to me that the times I want to use this, I am either logged on to the internet via my 3G Mifi or even the marinas wifi and therefore cannot print from the net.

I could screen print as a photo and then switch to the printers wifi, but I think I will really need to find an app that will allow me to "print" from the web to a PDF and then print that.

No I haven't, but the Canon Automobile Power Unit PU-200U works well on the boat.

Why wouldn't you be able to "print from the net" ? I can do anything on/from the net

Checking in online the other day with Porter Airlines, I found out they did not need you to print your boarding pass!

Before arriving at the airport, please print a paper copy of your boarding pass or verify that you are able to view the electronic version of the boarding pass on your internet enabled mobile device.
Airlines in your part of the world may be changing as well.

Ooops, I just realised that the airport express or other wifi print servers can connect to my mifi network and therefore should work

It varies. Some have been very quick to adopt to using phone screen or even the passbook app whilst others are dragging their feet.

Better to be safe than sorry.

What kind of mifi do you have? With which provider do you use that?

I am familiar with the millenicom.com service in the USA but you need a special router to link to the 4G mifi that links to their Verizon network...

SV Jedi

Just to be clear (to me) your statement about the Canon IP100 is positive? Our older Canon just crapped out after 9 years onboard in the tropics. We have heard good things about IP100

Thanks
