Does anybody have any experience with the Galleymate 1500 from Australia. It's quite expensive but it looks like a solid and well-built unit plus it has an option for a rotisserie👍

I do not own one yet, but it is the one I will be getting after seeing it work perfectly in gusty 20 knots without blowing out once & on low setting at that. Seems very well designed and made.

I'm not sure yet whether to get the half hot plate- half grill or just the full hot plate.

Galleymate and Sovereign are both great. We love our Sovereign but might opt for a Galleymate if we did it over because of the Rotisserie. No comparison to the Magma stuff...

PS We are full time live aboard cruisers, and use the grill a lot... might last just fine in other scenarios.

So Jim, what to y'all use/recommend?

The Sovereign grills look great, but man I have a hard time trying to justify $1000 for a grill. We had been planning for one of the magma infrared grills but the more I read about them, the more I think we need another option.

The best and safest I have used is a Cobb. Doesn't get hot on the outside so easy to handle or move. Available in most EU countries. Made in South Africa. Uses hardly any charcoal

Yes, I know a couple of guys who have them. The tritip and chicken they cooked on their grills were the juiciest and most tender I've ever had. That's what convinced me to get an infrared grill.

There are only 2 flaws with it. The lid is very low, you can't put a tall roast or a whole chicken in there. It's also $450 for a fairly small grill, which is a ridiculous amount of money for a grill that will eventually rust, even though it's SS.

That's why I chose the Charbroil Grill2go. Same size cooking surface, but a much taller lid, and it's less than $100 for a portable infrared grill that will last a very long time and heats up to around 700*. I love it!

I have the same and I will confirm. We have owned stainless boat grills ranging from $150-600 This weber has been the best by far. We liveaboard and cookout often, I was reluctant to put it on the boat but I won't go back.

Bought the boat with a round Magma on it, which was garbage, but mostly because PO had been burning charcoal in it which wrecked everything about it. Replaced with a rectangular Kuuma which has been nothing short of phenomenal. Only complaint would be the regulator is a tad clunky to use, with the popup setup for shutting it off, sort of sticks and seems cheap.

The grill cooks great even in wind and rain, here in Alaska with lower temps. Cover is well made.

Oh yeah, the original mounting bolts were pretty lame too. I bought the big plastic handled wing type nuts at Lowes and no problem since.

Kuuma rocks. Amazon brings to your house. All good!

Afraid I have no sage advice! We'll soldier on with the Magma until it falls the rest of the way apart, and then likely go for a non-marine model here in Oz. I can't stomach a grand for a BBQ the size of toaster!

There is an "anywhere"and an "everywhere" model from Solaire. The "anywhere" has a higher lid/dome much like the other conventional grills. That model seems to be the best choice.

Question for those of you who are using the Weber. Do you mount the grill somewhere on the boat or do you have to stow it after every use. That seems like it would be a PITA and take up a lot of room. If you mount it, how did you do it? Is it possible to mount it on a rail? My set up has a propane line coming to a rail on the starboard transom
I really want the galleymate1500 but the price for delivery alone was $900AUS to Puerto Rico Plus the cost of the grill and accessories😖

I mounted a fish cleaning table to my rail for the Weber to sit on. The table has quick release brackets from my last stainless grill.

On a side note: The Weber is cast aluminum body with a stainless burner and the cast iron grates are porcelain coated, pretty good stuff. Also being a Weber if you need parts you can get them.
