Re: 3G/Wifi: Locomarine Yacht Router Micro Reviews?

In a total steel yacht nothing works free w/o external antenna. The Locomarine 4G Yachtrouter is a very civil piece of work but a bit of overkill on a 33 ft loa boat. Plus, as Karl said, quite expensive. I have an Irridium phone for use at sea and abroad, avoiding extraexpensive costs of roaming. Next to that I have my special phone-setup for inland use. Both work with external antenna's, fixed up en next to the mizzen and transom. The WiFi or MiFi is inside the boat with an extra antenna mounted on a pole at the transom.
Because of the umbrella effect a MiFi antenna should mounted not too high up.
I can have up to 10 users on the Huawei hotspot. Friends, who bring their tablet(s) will have access to internet as long as there is a mobile phone connection is available.

For fibreglass boats everything changes and more simpler gadgets may be used.

Karl
Thanks for the feedback. Indeed it's the Yachtrouter Micro 4G/LTE that I’ve earmarked which is their latest incarnation.
