Post Worldwide Medical Insurance

Hello!

My wife and I are looking for a great worldwide medical insurance for our cruising around the world...

We are in contact with CIGNA, IMG Global, Mapfre, Allianze, Axa, DKV, Zurich, Asisa...

All of them with similar proposals.

Have someone experience in this?

Some advice?

Thanks!!

Godspeed

Re: Worldwide Medical Insurance

Are you certain that you need medical insurance. Most people we met cruising, and ourselves, self-insured, i.e. paid for medical care as needed. It is relatively inexpensive everywhere but the US. If you are American you may need coverage in the US if you have to go home with a major problem - serious accident, cancer, heart, etc.

Thanks AiniA! We are from Spain, where the medical assistance is "free" (you pay it with several taxes). Visit US is not in our plans, so we need to find an insurance for accidents, normal medical care, etc. Worldwide except in US (many insurance companies rises 300% the monthly fee if you want coverage in US ).

Thanks for comment!

Re: Worldwide Medical Insurance

There's some information on most of what's mentioned above, as well as some other topics, in the below linked post. One theme being that some people choose to retain a health plan for catastrophic illness coverage, back at home. And paying for other things as they travel. With a percentage figuring out something so that they're also somewhat covered for medivac return home, when traveling.

Most of this stuff is covered here http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ns-170474.html And there's little shortage of info on the topic if one does a search. I mention the search thing, as the linked topic on the subject is hardly a week old.
