We have been using a Watch Commander for several years now and have come to really like it. You set the desired time and, if you don't hit the reset button it beeps loudly. If you still don't hit the button, after about 20 seconds it activates a siren that is ear splitting. Perfect for short naps on watch and attractively overpriced for the boating
market. Another nice feature for short handed crews is that if one were to go overboard
on watch, the siren would wake the off watch crew before the POB is over the horizon. Problem is, ours died and it appears they are no longer available. I did find the Aqualarm Last Watch
Also suitably overpriced but it lacks the 2 step alarm
that the Watch Commander had. Anyone aware of any other alternative alarm
? I have tried the usual kitchen timers, watch and cell alarms but find that sleeping through them is child's play.
