Tethering with Sospenders that do not have safety harness

I have two sets of sospenders, neither with safety harness.
Is there a way to safely attach a harness or modify what I have into a harness by adding webbing? I know that many sailors make their own harnesses.

In other words, it may a bit awkward to wear the sospenders and a separate safety harness.

Yes, it is always possible to sew additional webbing on a lifejacket. But how will you make sure that the stitches are strong enough? Are you ready for destructive testing?

Good point. I may keep the the ones I have for back up and invest in ones with harness.

Altering a CG approved pfd will likely revoke its approval. It does here in Canada.

Get a harness and wear under the pdf.

It's always possible to do without government approval. Maybe it's not wise... But having harnesses of untested design is unsafe.

Recently assembled a full harness from climbing components. Looks like adding a [sospender] PFD to the chest rig will be the way to go, using existing web straps.?

The webbing on a pfd with a harness is substantially more robust than the webbing on a pfd without a harness.

Re: Tethering with Sospenders that do not have safety harness

no doubt!
Was the objective to.recommend better attachment to chest harness or ditch chest harness in favor of PFD w/harness?
As it is; I have. components that can be used in combination that carry my weight distributed from thighs, waist and chest evenly and comfortably. All it needs is the option of an inflatable PFD. I *can* use my vest overall; but that. becomes quite warm. I like the modular approach, as I can use some or all of it, depending on conditions or activity.

regards,
Paul
