So since everyone raves about the stuff I picked up a box and popped one of them while living on land this month (safer than giving it a go at sea).

I fell asleep thirty minutes later (at 9pm), slept for ten hours, woke up feeling like I got hit by a bus. This stuff is friggin brutal, why in the hell would anyone take it?

Eric, all drugs are cursed with the fact that different folks respond in different ways to them. Obviously, Stugeron isn't for you, but for many it is effective and has no discernible side effects.

For instance, both Ann and I can use it with impunity, but for me, both Marezine and Dramamine are roughly equivalent to a rap on the head with a mallet... sorta like what you experienced.

And experiences like yours are why we always recommend that folks do exactly what you did: try it in a benign situation before using it at sea.

Don't know what you took and more importantly how much of it. I take it in the first few days of sailing of I've been off boats for long , I d feel any drowsiness and its one of the best seasickness remedies I ve tried. , I take 50mg s.

Ps don't use sturgeron Forte

I use the 15mg version and it works great. I pick them up in Bermuda

I find Stugeron gives hot flushes. Horrible if you've got to run around on the foredeck with full oilskins. Until I get my sea legs back I feed the fishes.

Can someone please tell me what it tastes like.

I bought some over the 'net a few years and it seems to have had no positive effect for the admiral. The site I purchased it from has now gone and I'm wondering if I have the real product.

On the weekend I took a nibble at one. It was slightly sweet with a mild aspirin like flavour - almost pleasant. I would have thought a product like this would have taste deterrents in case kids got hold of the box.

So, have I got the real stuff?

It tastes like most "white" pills

As to kids, its not dangerous, its sold here over the counter, no more dangerous then dispirin really

I believe you're still in Mexico and as far as I know, they only sell the 75mg tablets there or what's known as the 'forte'. That is a massive dosage and I'm not surprised that it knocked you out.

One time when I was rounding Cabo Falso at the beginning of a 'Baja Bash', I took two 75mg tablets of Stugeron. Whereas it did cure my nausea, it gave me terrible hallucinations and I don't know which was worse, the seasickness or the hallucinations.

Just to summarize... There is no summary. There is no consensus. Which is how all of these threads about seasickness remedies go.

Like Jim said in the second posting, each different drug will affect different people in different ways. Smart of you, Rebel Heart, to have tried it out ahead of time. Each of us needs to try out various remedies and find one that works for us. Just because someone else tells you that thus-and-such is the greatest remedy ever doesn't mean that it will work for you.

Yep, it was the 75mg version. I guess that's 5x what people are taking. Whew.
