Smoke, Smoke, Smoke that Cigarette !
So you're anchored in a busy cove & another boat pulls in next to you & drops the pick. As you sit on deck in the evening, the cigarette smoke comes wafting straight at you in big clouds. Does it bother you? What would you do? Leave? yell? Suck it up?

Re: Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette!
Wow, how close is this boat? I take it there are a dozen Germans onboard, all toking full blast at cigars? I can't say ciggie smoke from another boat has ever bothered me...
However, if I'm sitting 1m downwind from a smoker then it does bother me and I'll move, or ask to switch places....

Personally I'd shift my position upwind and find something stinky to do like boil cabbage. I have no patience for people who think their comfort is more important than mine. SC

Re: Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette!
Gosh, you'd have to be pretty close for it not to disperse... Can't say it's ever bothered me, but I've never smoked in my life and people smoking outside generally doesn't bother me. In my experience it's the reformed smokers who seem to be affected most.

Sounds like a good time to get a few buckets of sea water to swill the decks. If one goes astray and accidentally soaks them all it was a mistake. Right!

Re: Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette!
After living in the same townhouse for 6 years, and while in the process of moving over the past few days, a new tenant from 2 doors down came & asked me to stop smoking in our home, because she says that it travels through the basements & goes up to her 3rd story bedroom, so she can't sleep at night. I told her that we were moving, but said that I could take it outside for the next few days & asked if she'd prefer me to smoke on the front porch or back balcony. She preferred I smoked in the back, then the woman from 3 doors down was upset because the smoke is bothering her when she sits on her back balcony, so I moved to the front & now the first complainer is raising hell & accusing me of still smoking inside, which I haven't. Finally, I became tired of her ranting and told her I thought she was a nut, then closed the door. I said to my wife, "Man, I can't Fking wait until we're in Mexico & I don't have to bother with this!" To which she replied, "But what if someone in the anchorage or marina doesn't like your smoking?" So, I thought I'd throw it out there & see what other's thought.

Re: Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette!
OMG.. I wish that was the biggest problem in my life.
In reality I would be more worried about them playing loud country or operatic music, dumping sewage waste, running the engine at all hours or even worse-them not being alcohol drinkers and wanting to come join our happy hour with cans of iced tea and prune juice.

Re: Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette!
Would take a couple of beers and my own pack of smokes and go chill with the dude.
What about that ******* who starts his generator in a tight anchorage, or that guy who gets drunk and shouts all day, or those bastards who barbecue kebabs (as a vegetarian I find the smell offensive and sickening).
Live and let live, and if something is not to your taste, you are on a boat, move along.
What would you do if that smoke had a sweet sweet aroma?
