RuptureSeal - product to seal breaches

We saw the following item on Dragon's Den. It looks like a heck of a good idea to have on board. It is capable of sealing ruptures in almost any medium, from either side of the breach. It's not applicable to large holes; 4" maximum, but I can see lots of potential for it. The 1/4" - 4" size is $106 CAD & you can order a variety size pack of three for $230 CAD. So, it took a while to source this product. We saw one at the boat show & thought it looked like a great idea in the case of a seacock breaking off in your hand. Today the special order 2" item arrived at our chandlery & we examined it closely. It seemed considerably different than the demo version we saw at the boat show in that the zip portion was really quite short--perhaps only 4" long. We compared it to a thru hull in the store & decided it would not be long enough to reach through to the outside hull & thus allow one to seal the hole. Great idea, but we thought they cheaped out on the length of the zip portion and thereby rendered it of no value for a seacock failure.

We decided against buying it.

FWIW, we have used Splash Zone underwater epoxy to plug a keel to hull leak on our first Insatiable. Although over 10 yrs. old at the time, it still worked fine.
