Recharging handheld vhf & EPIRB from portable solar panels?

In my ditch bag I have a small solar charger (5 watt) and battery that I can use to keep my phone charged (for GPS & strobe) but it would be great if I could also charge a handheld VHF. I can find handhelds that can be charged from 12v, but not using a USB cable from the solar / battery system.

Has anyone seen one?

What about an EPIRB that could be recharged this way as well?

Am I over-thinking this?

thanks

Standard Horizon HX300- handheld is charged via a USB cable. At Defender Marine for $105.

I only know the commercial side but all the EPIRBs I've seen had factory sealed batteries, no way of recharging them. They were good for 5 years though.

Yeah as BigBoater said all EPIRBs use sealed non-rechargeable batteries. Older ones were good for 5 years some newer ones are good for 10 years.
