Some people are able to stay extremely focused in an emergency
, and will come off sounding so calm that they seem almost bored. I used to work
as a security
guard, and once had a call from the paint
room in the factory where I worked. They had had a small explosion that led to a fire. The alarm
in the guard shack went off at about the same time as the call came in. The guy who called it in sounded like he was going to fall asleep before he finished telling me what was happening, but he got me all the information I needed, clearly and concisely, and without any need for me to ask him to repeat himself.
Afterwards he told me that it was the most frightened he had ever been in his entire life. You really can't judge how scared someone is by the sound of their voice. Especially, I think, if they have considered ahead of time what they will need to do in an emergency
, and have a script in their head
of what they need to say.
