Using a medium size Tupperware container in a prominent place on board and marked with your vessels name on it put a couple of defunct watches, cameras, mobile phones,
cheap jewellery (buy from a pawn shop) and a wallet with some
money and a copied but slightly defaced (where your birth date is shown) drivers licence and old credit cards in it. Maybe add an old passport what ever you can contrive.
Throw in a few receipts so it looks a bit cluttered.
Should you be boarded this is what you handover or what they find rather than your genuine stuff which you stash in a more secure spot.
Far better to lose a $100 of crap that at face value will satisfy a thief than lose the lot in a foreign country.
Hopefully you will never need but if only once it is used then its worth the trouble.. Cheers Frank
