Re: overdue solo sailor

Hopefully it's just light winds and a disabled engine.

pirate Re: overdue solo sailor

There used to be a pilot who flew UK - Brittany flights regularly and would fly a couple of passes over boats that were becalmed.. did it with me a couple of occasions the first being '01 when I was dead reckoning my way to the UK from the Caribe. Had been becalmed/light winds for 10 days in the S Approaches and worried I would miss Cornwall and end up in the Irish Sea when he flew over, turned and made another low pass then got my hand signaled message and confirmed the course I needed with a couple of passes and then flew on with a wing waggle.
If he's still flying hopefully he will spot the boat.
Great guy and locally pretty well known for this.

Re: overdue solo sailor

According to the article . . . seasoned sailor, strong boat that was recently refitted, and relatively benign weather conditions. Hopefully just a communications snafu or other innocuous problem.

Re: overdue solo sailor

I just watched an interview on YouTube with GGR the other day. Praying for his safe return.

He has a few other GGR interviews on YouTube. Definitely seems like a very experienced and capable individual.

OH So Sad,
