My wife and I would like to consult the masses regarding options for ongoing Orencia (Abatacept) infusions while spending time hopping around the
Caribbean and/or other Oceans for that matter.
She has a monthly Orencia infusion administered in a clinic to control rhumatoid arthritis -- 2 viles each time which keeps this under control very nicely. This is done by a nurse in the city where we live in
Canada.
Previously the infusions were Remecade, but have now switched to Orencia as the Remecade stopped being effective.
So question is, what options exist for ongoing treatment while cruising?
Does anyone have experience with these sorts of clinics and
medical treatments of this sort in general?
Can this drug be purchased easily and for reasonable cost? (Our
current cost is just under $1000 per month, and covered by my
employment health plan.)
Self injection forms of this drug are available we understand, although we haven't looked into this. But again, would need to buy it someplace and possibly in various locations as we traveled about.
Suggestions/comments appreciated as it will be vital to have a plan for this before we look at
long term cruising (in a couple of years) as her
Health comes first.
