Oregon Inlet - Waterspout Victim?

Several posters have said that the boat was hit by a waterspout and knocked down a few times.

Any more details on this?

Looks more like a IP32 than a 38. BTW Oregon Inlet is in NC not Oregon. A bad news body of water as are some inlets in the PNW.

Not me, could be a 38, not sure. Staysail boom is like mine and not goosenecked, I think that is older boats like mine.

Why do you say waterspout?

I'd guess something bad happened as it looks like they have a main still, and a Staysail and ought to have been able to sail, chest pains though maybe best call for help.

Best guess is that it is Bruce Gregory's IP32. He has sailed it out to Bermuda and back several times. Run across a lot of waterspouts but so far none have run across me.

Tangled with an inshore squall line that was later reported by the weather station as 60 knots. I didn't have any sails up but controlling Cbreeze was almost impossible. Couldn't see, couldn't steer, finally threw out the hook and went below. That remote anchor windlass switch which I had installed earlier on the steering pedestal saved a miserable/ dangerous trip up to the bow.

Hey Pilot - if you read some of the FB replies below you'll see a couple of people say that he was an experienced sailor who got hit by a water spout. Still nothing in the news that I can come up with.

Looks similar to our previous 1990 IP35, 5 ports, same staysail.
