Obtaining Medications in Mexico
We are considering spending several months in Mexico, we are currently living in California. The question is how to obtain our current blood pressure meds and a couple of other things whilst there? Can we get our meds mailed down there? Or will the local pharmency fill our USA prescriptions ?

Zeehag would be the one to talk to about this, but when we were in Mexico, we found that many drugs that are prescription in the US can be bought in Mexico without prescription.

Re: Obtaining medications in Mexico
Most medications are cheaper and available without a prescription, especially the type you're referring to. If you want to PM me your list I can hit up a pharmacy tomorrow and ask.
Prescriptions are needed for opiates, anabolic steroids, narcotics, hallucinogens, etc. Basically anything fun.

Get your doctor to write you one year scripts and order your drugs on the internet from overseas companies, we use Canada Drugs. You will pay 10% of what they cost in the USA.

Re: Obtaining medications in Mexico
In Mexico, most US prescribed drugs are sold over the counter; you need to know the equivalent generic names, though. For pain killers, you'll need a prescription which you can readily get from the pharmacist by paying 200-300 Pesos (about $25 USD); no physical or medical questions are needed. Getting medications from outside US, by mail order is very risky as there's limited QC on what you'll be buying; I would not recommend it. US mail-order outfits are the way to go; like CVS affiliates. Injectables and inhalers are difficult to get. Take your labeled prescription bottles with you through customs, to avoid any misunderstanding. Have fun!

Re: Obtaining Medications in Mexico
Do not have anything mailed to you in Mexico, you will never see it. If you are in the States, get a years supply before you leave. If you are already gone, as we are, have them sent to a family member or friend in the States and either pick them up or have them sent through a shipping company.
Definitely go on line and check out the prices from overseas suppliers. I paid $400 for a years supply of 6 prescription drugs I take daily.

No. This is bad advice for Mexico. There's a pharmacia in every town, the drugs are cheap there, and much of what you need a prescription for in the USA is available over-the-counter in Mexico.
However, their mail system is a bit primitive.

I truthfully would rather trust the pony express.

Yeah, but it's not wise to bad-mouth a country where you can buy Viagra in the airports.
