MOB alarm with Apple Watch

Hi!

Is there an APP that gives a MOB alarm to an iPhone/ iPad when the bluetooth connection to a man wearing an apple watch is lost?

I am inspired by Sea Tags http://sea-tags.com/?lang=en.

best regards,

Martin

Most apps that I know alert on the watch, not the phone when the distance exceeds a set value.

However, there are cheaper solutions to the sea tags with clip on devices. https://www.tomsguide.com/us/best-ke...view-2657.html

@leboyd: the keyfinder you linked is another functionality.
Maybe you read the Sea Tags description.

The iPhone should alarm when the connection to the watch has gone.

Correct, the iPhone will alarm when the Sea Tag is out of distance - just like the devices in the link I posted.

Ok, I got it.

I wanted to use existing hardware.

I guess I will give Sea Tags a try.

A cheap luggage anti theft device will work. Signal will die when it goes in the water and set off the alarm. Kind of a one time use deal, but cost is low ($10?)

I think alarm app can be installed in the apple watch.

Does a luggage tag or key finder work as a MOB device?

Does it work as well as a device designed for marine environment, designed for MOB alerts and designed for GPS location identification?

From what I see, so far, it does not appear so. But I am open to learning more.

If one is advocating a luggage or key finder tag, please indicate why those devices are better, or proven to work in a MOB situation.

For example, does the luggage tag or key finder app provide a GPS location to the user or others in the crew? Or is it solely linked to a single phone? What if the user goes overboard WITH their phone too? Will another crew member be alerted? Will the other crew member's phone sound an alarm? Will it show the GPS location of the MOB?

Re: MOB alarm with Apple Watch

I will say if anyone does try this make sure you use a bluetooth tracker that's ip67 waterproof. I tried a similar set-up with the Raven Gadgets bluetooth tracker and lucky I tested it BEFORE actually using it for an emergency situation because water seeped in and short circuited the whole unit in less than 5 minutes of it being submerged.

Most Bluetooth trackers do track via phone once paired with it and once the signal is lost (i.e out of range) it will notify you immediately. Just make sure to purchase one that's waterproof and even then I would have a back-up system of some sort.
