Lirakis Climbing Harness

I have inherited a size large Lirakis climbing harness.
I have looked at it in several different ways, but for the life of me, can not figure out how it should be properly worn. Does anyone have any idea or a diagram??? I looked in the archives and did a search but came up empty.
An online search for the manufacturer produced a phone number that was incorrect.

I used to have one for 25 years, (I called it a "Jock Strap" chair)... and for lack of a better description, you unbucke the waist band, put your legs in the matching leg holes, (buckle in friont), and fasten the buckle firmly! The doubled over webbing loop in the middle, is what you hoist yourself by.

I GAVE MINE AWAY! It is safe enough, but DAMNED uncomfortable! I now use a much more padded version, that I got from WEST marine.

Beetle, thanks for your rapid reply, but that is the chest harness. The harness I have is decidedly intended for climbing. It has a "belt like" around the waist strap and a buckle to cinch it up. I am unclear as to how the remaining straps are worn about the legs and thighs.

Mark, Thanks for your reply. I think that I understand what you are saying. I could not figure out what all the extra straps were for. If I buckle it in front though, the doubled over strap would be at my left side. It seems more that the buckle is ment to be more to my right side with the doubled over strap in front for hoisting.

If you're talking about a climber's sit harness, you might take a look at the pictures of various harnesses on this site and see if it looks like what you've got.

I have a sit harness (useful for doing work up in the rig) and the one I have is this:

The photos should give you an idea of how it works. If you have any issues with how to use the gear, visit a climbing store and have them explain how to use it - you definitely do NOT want to set up the gear incorrectly and as a result have a fall.

Captain... That doubled up strap loop should br in the middle, with your legs in the leg holes. I think you have the wrong size! They come in S, M, and L. Only the waist is adjustable. In other words, these are NOT one size fits all. Mine, just like my wet suites, shrank! Or did I swell? Anyway... If your legs are in the leg holes, and when you wiggle up the harness and buckle it up, the 1" wide doubled up loop, should be within 1 or 2" max of the middle. Otherwise, it is way too large or too small.

As for mine, It seems that I continue to "grow as a person", and my harness became too small!

Don't have mine near me, and haven't used it in a while as I've since gotten a Top Climber, but I will say that a most important thing, should you figure how to strap it on, is that after threading the bitter end thru the buckle, you must then do a "180*" with it and thread it back under where you first inserted it. Hope that makes sense.
